Case in point: Being the good boyfriend that he is, Trevor surprised me by taking me to see HAPPY FEET back in November. Yeah, that was the longest 108 minutes of Trevor’s life. Somehow, in all my excitement, I forgot to mention that it was a musical. Trevor doesn’t do musicals, much less musicals with dancing penguins. It was a GREAT time. I like to think of HAPPY FEET as payback for all of the horrible movies Trevor has subjected me to over the past five years. Namely: THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, THE GRUDGE and KILLER CLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE. If you haven’t yet seen these cinematic disasters, consider yourself lucky. I, for one, am still having nightmares.
Anyway, back to this Friday night. Has anyone seen the trailer for MEET THE ROBINSONS? It’s freakin’ hysterical. If the movie is anything like the ad, it’s going to be awesome (like a hotdog but better). Seriously, I cannot remember the last time a promo made me - literately - laugh out loud. Not just once, either. Oh, no, no. I break into side-splitting fits of laughter every time I think of the clip, so you can imagine what happens when I see the trailer on TV. Tears, people! I laugh so hard my eyes well up with tears! I just cannot get over the following conversation between the villain and T-Rex:
Villain: “Why aren’t you seizing the boy?”
T-Rex: “I have a big head and little arms.”
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

You know what's funny? I hate animated movies. Pixar stuff is good, but in general animated stuff stinks to me. My worst nightmare is having to watch an animated movie with talking animals that's a Japanimation. No joke. My step kids know I can't stand animation.
Screw you Disney for ruining my life by making the main character die in all your animated movies. I'm scarred forever!!!!!

Edge: I'm with you on the Japanimation. I hate that stuff! I once had to baby-sit my stepbrother and he LOVES shows like Pokemon. It was torture. Pure torture.
Heather: This is the first time I've ever emotionally connected with a dinosaur. Well, except for in A LAND BEFORE TIME. I guess it's the first time I've ever emotionally connected with a T-Rex. I can honestly say I never thought THAT would happen!
I only like animation when it's done well, and it casts only non-people. I don't like when actors dress up as something weird, and I don't like when Cinderella is played by a cartoon instead of a person. Talking dinosaurs, though, should be animated.
Real people and animation should not be mixed, though. That's just bad. If absolutely necessary, people may be animated, but only because real people shouldn't be in animated movies.

Dude, Killer Clowns from Outer Space is classic bad cinema. I'm sorry for you for having to sit through it, but I wouldn't put it in the same category as The Grudge. That's just me, though.
I don't like Japanimation, either, but that's probably because the only Japanimation I've really seen is the stuff we watched with friends in high school, and that stuff was like animated soft-core porn. Didn't care for it.
On second thought, though, I do like some Japanimation, namely, Speed Racer.
