It all makes sense now...

As if things weren’t crazy enough, I got the following email forward from my mother this morning:

DUE TO RECENT BUDGET CUTS,
THE RISING COST OF ELECTRICITY AND FUEL,
AND THE THREAT OF INCREASED TAXES,
THE 'LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL'
HAS BEEN TURNED OFF.
WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.

Sigh. At least, they gave me notice this time...
