Gone but never forgotten...

From this on March 30th, 2008...

...To this on April 5th.

Incase you cannot read the signs in front of the teardown pictures, they are advertising the Park Cities Historic & Preservation Society's 6th Annual Historic Home Tour. My grandparent's house was built in the 1920s, making it one of the "older" homes in the Park Cities. Nothing quite like irony, huh?

Man, I'm so sad. I loved that house. I was in total denial--I kept thinking that somehow, it wouldn't get torn down.

So depressing.

Heartbreaking photos. In a way, the photos of the stripped house before the teardown are almost worse--becaues you can see the charm of the house and what a life it must have had. Almost like a skeleton. Hugs.

But... but why? Structural damage? Flesh-eating bacteria?

Seeing those built-in bookshelves killed me. How could something so beautiful be destroyed???

I am sad now.

So sad. And for something so historic too! And I don't care what people say, knowing its coming doesn't make it any easier. I am sorry :-( ♥
