Smart Dogs...
While packing up the car for the 14 hour drive back to Dallas, Trevor opened the back hatch of the Colorado Jeep to grab the dog leashes. Gypsy, Alley and Haskell knew we were leaving their mountain paradise, and used the open Jeep hatch as an invitation to jump in and make themselves comfortable. It was almost as if they were thinking that they could trick us into staying (and/or going on another hike) by hopping - on purpose - into the wrong vehicle.
In dog: Jeep=FUN! and Envoy=home (or worse...VET!).
We tried to explain that we didn't have a choice. Returning to Dallas was necessary. We had to work for their kibble. But all this was to no avail. There was no moving the Awesome Pawsome from the back of the Jeep.
Finally, Trevor and I went back inside the cabin to grab a quick cup of coffee, some cereal and to say goodbye to Grammy Pammy and The Judge. We thought the dogs would grow tired of sitting in the back of the Jeep. You know, jump out to chase a chipmunk, pee on a nearby tree, bark at the neighbor's dogs or something. But no. All three of them stubbornly stayed put in the Jeep. We finally had to bribe them with cookies into the Envoy (and even then they didn't want to move).
If only they understood that Trevor and I didn't want to leave, either!
Poor pups! They put up a good fight!
